Energy plays a central role for us in the field of environmental responsibility.
It is not only used as fuel for pilot training in the air but also powers over 70 predominantly electrically operated training devices on the ground. We are committed to taking responsibility for analysing energy consumption, using energy more efficiently and continuously reducing consumption.
- Implementation of an energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001 at selected LAT locations, in line with the Energy Efficiency Act. This supports us in monitoring our energy use, improving efficiency, and continuously reducing consumption.
- Make the benefits of energy management available to all LAT sites, even without legal requirements or ISO certification.
- Regular monitoring and maintenance of all training equipment and facilities to ensure both safety and optimized energy use.
- Conversion of remaining hydraulic motion systems in training devices to electric systems wherever possible and appropriate, in order to reduce the systems’ energy requirements and resource consumption.
-
Review and, where appropriate, implementation of renewable energy solutions at suitable locations, such as the installation of photovoltaic systems and heat pumps. - Raising awareness of energy-related topics across all areas of the company, for example through monthly employee awareness campaigns, clean-up events and web-based training on energy management.
Innovation for digital and resource-efficient training formats
We see the adoption of advanced technologies as an opportunity to make our training programmes more diverse, resource-efficient, flexible and accessible.
The use of virtual reality and online modules already enables us to deliver training independently of time and location. Depending on the training format, this can help avoid or reduce travel and promote greater flexibility.
Efficient use of resources
-
We give aircraft parts a second life by reusing retired components, such as life vests, trolleys and onboard galley equipment, in our training mock-ups. This allows us to use existing components for longer, reduce the need for new materials and, at the same time, create realistic and practical training conditions.
-
We are making our processes more circular in selected areas, for example by using reusable packaging and practical refill options.
We foster a corporate culture that values and promotes the uniqueness of every individual—both among our employees and in our training with clients.
